Mean is not Mediocrity

Mean is not Mediocrity

Studying Greek philosophy is mind opening. It’s such a transfusion of so many schools of thought that it encourages us to seek our own individual understanding throughout our lives. One concept that could be confusing is Aristotle’s virtue. It is state of character that enables us to act in the best possible way, between two points of extreme response, i.e. excess and deficiency. It could be misinterpreted as splitting the difference and taking the middle of the road decision but it is not. It is a challenge for us to become as wise as possible in order to make the best decision that is not one of recklessness or cowardice for example. And these are fine lines that are difficult to pinpoint. Even in business, we are always presented with constant points of decision and through our endeavors, we are able to become wiser to make better decisions with each iteration.
